10 reasons why I love & recommend Squarespace

My business wouldn’t have started without Squarespace, so it’s no surprise that I love the platform! It’s helped me build a business after all. But there’s more to my love for Squarespace than that so here goes with 10 reasons why I love and recommend Squarespace.

  • You can have everything all in one place if you want to – not only your website but you can buy your domain through Squarespace and manage it there, as well as setting up Gsuite for professional email attached to your domain name. Plus it’s now possible to use Squarespace’s built in email marketing software from within your website account (Squarespace Email Campaigns – go to main menu > marketing and you’ll find it at the top) which connects seamlessly to your website. More than that, your blog and online shop, if you have both, are under the same roof too.
  • You don’t have to worry about any updates or plugins – Squarespace takes care of all of that leaving you to get on with what you really want to be doing, ie running your business, writing blog posts and/or selling your products and services!
  • It’s intuitive and user friendly – as with anything there’s a bit of a learning curve but not a steep one. Once you’ve found your way around Squarespace it is simple and robust to use. The backend of your website is clean and well laid out so you don’t get lost in hundreds of options when trying to find your way around.

  • Adding new pages is easy and adding the content to those pages is done using drag and drop blocks. It’s unclunky and efficient too. Plus you’ll be working in a ‘what you see is what you get’ (WYSIWYG) editor so you can immediately see the impact of any changes you make.
  • Setting up a blog and/or an online store on Squarespace is straightforward and it’s easy to create beautiful blog posts and product listings working with the options that Squarespace gives you.
  • One of the biggest factors for me when I moved to Squarespace was how easy it is to show your images to their best. You have a choice of image block styles and can resize image blocks with ease, and Squarespace will crop your images in the best way rather than randomly lopping off one side of the image!

  • Your website will be completely responsive whether on desktop, tablet or mobile. Phew, no more web pages with the edge cut off on mobile view!
  • If you’re interested or have knowledge of CSS you can use this to customise your website even further. If not, that’s not an issue at all!
  • If you’d like to add sign up forms from your favourite email marketing software (eg Mailerlite, Flodesk etc) you can easily add the code into a code block and position it wherever you like on the page.

  • And if you do get stuck, Squarespace has 24/7 customer support via email or live chat. Whenever I’ve used support I’ve found them to be quick to respond and very helpful. So you’re not on your own, no matter what time of night or day you’re doing those website updates!
