“I’m rubbish with tech” – time to turn it around

“I’m rubbish with tech”.

These are the words I hear all the time.

And fair enough. It’s not everyone’s cup of tea. And you certainly didn’t start an online business because the thought of all the tech you’d need really excited you (unless you’re like me). You’re here because you wanted to share your knowledge and expertise with your ideal clients, and to help them with the services and/or products that you offer.

But hold up, if you’ve got an online business, there’s no escaping tech.

It doesn’t have to be super complicated but you do need to use tech. There’s no getting away from it.

Staying stuck is not an option. Not a great one anyway.

Even if you’re declaring that you’re Instagram based for now (please don’t just rely on Instagram!!) you’re going to need a website at some stage soon. And email marketing software preferably if you’re going to build an audience away from social media.

Embrace the need for tech is my suggestion. And then figure out how you’re going to make it happen. How will you best introduce, learn and manage the tech that you need?

Which means that you can’t say you’re rubbish with tech and simply stop there. Because where does that leave you? Probably going around in circles, no further forward, stuck and frustrated that it all seems SO DIFFICULT!

Turning it around

So declaring you’re rubbish with tech is one thing but how about:

“I’m rubbish at tech but I’m excited to get some expert help to train me”

“I’m rubbish at tech but I’m doing this course to help me launch my own website”

“I’m rubbish at tech and I simply have no interest in learning how to do it myself but I’ve found a brilliant tech angel who will do it for me”

One way or another, whether you learn it or outsource it, you’ve got to find a way to get unstuck from tech!.

The approach you choose will depend on:

  • your attitude towards tech – does learning interest you or do you want to pay someone else to do it for you?
  • the time you have available – do you have time to learn or is it time to outsource?
  • your budget – the most economical route is to pay for some bespoke tech training and then you’re ready to run with it!

Whether you’re looking for some tech training OR you want to outsource your tech and software setup, I can help. Find out more about how we can work together.
